PILOT ASSIST HANDLES
If you have ever tried to get in or out of a pilot seat on any airliner, you cannot ignore that this is one of the most challenging tasks facing the crew. This is why modern aircraft install pilot assist handles in appropriate locations around the cockpit.
These handles can be fixed, or retractable.
The retractable version incorporates a spring which stows the handle out of the way when not in use.
They are always designed to take the weight of strong pilots.
Fixed or retractable, the handle itself can be padded with rubberized foam or covered with sewn leather for both comfort and esthetic.
